<br />
I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a long while. I spend most of my time on Instagram BUT I am going to make an attempt to blog on a regular basis. I've still got a few more finishing touches in my home but I thought I'd share how everything looks as of today.<br />
<br />
My husband was able to make me a faux log facade, fireplace cover this fall. Yay! That, the new mirror and the oversized wooden bead garland set the tone for my decor this Christmas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_WLPzXj4KMV5DD9NuMRri_TDqvjZOOW6KCSqkBr01MPgzG-oJfxJV563HrxmOnHENVThviBKO1V-lM4AmJTsF9IabHrlqGsLgbrgYwRRH0Y2x-AfJVErgdpdGz11GGQ-0DX3x78N96w/s1600/FamilyRoomTree_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_WLPzXj4KMV5DD9NuMRri_TDqvjZOOW6KCSqkBr01MPgzG-oJfxJV563HrxmOnHENVThviBKO1V-lM4AmJTsF9IabHrlqGsLgbrgYwRRH0Y2x-AfJVErgdpdGz11GGQ-0DX3x78N96w/s640/FamilyRoomTree_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
I really love how it turned out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN9unNwOeIU4K9XmT74aT22ipHLF-fXy8RTwIlXbDXecfUzi-j6iEu_wCXG-GPc8lkEjH2jcBFYfoGc-cngkwSbr0r7xII4u4mPDkw_xRx_nvEsr0xotL4_q-LelSmKjbX_g6WLio6eQ/s1600/Mantel_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="933" data-original-width="1400" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN9unNwOeIU4K9XmT74aT22ipHLF-fXy8RTwIlXbDXecfUzi-j6iEu_wCXG-GPc8lkEjH2jcBFYfoGc-cngkwSbr0r7xII4u4mPDkw_xRx_nvEsr0xotL4_q-LelSmKjbX_g6WLio6eQ/s640/Mantel_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added a lot of bang to my store bought garland by using cedar clippings from the shrubs in my yard and pine cones I've had for years. It really looks full and lush by adding those simple touches.<br />
<br />
Home Goods really came through with their stockings this year. I picked up these three for my kiddos for $14.99 a piece. Everything comparable was $35.00 – $40.00. I had the metal letters from Target last year which easily defines whose is whose.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_HA_MB1ARgf1eSfqsxnBCL7fEE0xkzxceSV5b680RIQYG-yJhuH2Iu_KLNmAE3BGu3dDTk06BOCSi4WsAFZ48CuSE2KS81qwhl9v19-PRtnRfIbMTyZvfEo2azZwAKQMlbwwf0jY0gg/s1600/Stockings3_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_HA_MB1ARgf1eSfqsxnBCL7fEE0xkzxceSV5b680RIQYG-yJhuH2Iu_KLNmAE3BGu3dDTk06BOCSi4WsAFZ48CuSE2KS81qwhl9v19-PRtnRfIbMTyZvfEo2azZwAKQMlbwwf0jY0gg/s640/Stockings3_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
My two younger kids aren't thrilled that I don't have tons of color in my decor this time around. I told them that I will brighten it up next year. I on the other hand couldn't be happier with the woodsy, elegant vibe though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia6Tm_XLvPumUYRHdJ6bXD_6gyc_T5kTEvqajdr70KHBLPbahFOXABWIciPL-4G2NOfXRgrtOpuXTGbQjnqASxLbiVns-QCZHgpwG1gnjsC6EUMWcrXKy3t4h_f2ruwkNju7YQgAqfNA/s1600/FamilyRoomTree1_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia6Tm_XLvPumUYRHdJ6bXD_6gyc_T5kTEvqajdr70KHBLPbahFOXABWIciPL-4G2NOfXRgrtOpuXTGbQjnqASxLbiVns-QCZHgpwG1gnjsC6EUMWcrXKy3t4h_f2ruwkNju7YQgAqfNA/s640/FamilyRoomTree1_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
We have a very casual style with handmade slipcovers and a denim ottoman.<br />
<br />
Another touch I added was the winter scene painting, my aunt did, hanging from the tv cabinet. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpiBeJhG3Rvwh84QutRGn1okzBtFuynpL_w1PVdQqGZpMmFpa0g5Dl2PPqZmW3Ja4THVc_yucYXunJAGfUgolICzKVyFPIQ_MGJeMNt-eb9UeraXhMET4bd3j2_Exfld7cW5ensg0kOw/s1600/FamilyRoomArmoir3_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpiBeJhG3Rvwh84QutRGn1okzBtFuynpL_w1PVdQqGZpMmFpa0g5Dl2PPqZmW3Ja4THVc_yucYXunJAGfUgolICzKVyFPIQ_MGJeMNt-eb9UeraXhMET4bd3j2_Exfld7cW5ensg0kOw/s640/FamilyRoomArmoir3_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
The lights all aglow gives me butterflies. The little trees are from Marshall's this year. I varied the height using wood slices.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_F-f5kYHOJ-K1NX5eqMzwJOkKfXmtZVW58HlzKNwQHaKDGWtEIpWG9EhdswZn_MBMwJb_LPObN_gJ-_b8xBKgixSowPNgqmWJ7-sToqSGDvfsw3pTQhOfscnsncrycyTMQRIVC4ZeYg/s1600/LittleTrees_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_F-f5kYHOJ-K1NX5eqMzwJOkKfXmtZVW58HlzKNwQHaKDGWtEIpWG9EhdswZn_MBMwJb_LPObN_gJ-_b8xBKgixSowPNgqmWJ7-sToqSGDvfsw3pTQhOfscnsncrycyTMQRIVC4ZeYg/s640/LittleTrees_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
A room looks so much better when technology is tucked away. The armoire doors are rarely closed but for photos I shut the doors and added some brass bells to the pulls.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's a little snap of the dining room. I added the same garland to the banister as the mantel with cedar clippings and pine cones. I didn't style the dining room for these photos so when I do I'll come back and share more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I've considered painting the railings black. I'm not a fan of the yellowish wood but we plan to move in a few years. Is it worth the trouble and will the next buyer want the natural wood back?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I love the mix and match dining rooms that bloggers are doing now days. Adding the bench on one side and wing back chairs on the ends but this dining set is in great condition so for now it stays.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Here's what's on the other side of the stairs... my tiffany blue office. I'm not sharing a lot of this space today either because it's not cleaned up. There are projects still in progress.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuXUexJAoBP2KtaVXuFFnrErG7h12hhyphenhyphenSyLP3v7r_2i7QdNDr5uF7cJtsrghWG560PkjwVtocsl9L43iRS-JNzyWiNEK8cb9IwUgmtkXqJ-0TlvviIM7GD3Wf58Bt8WXPcdB6qotcHGA/s1600/OfficeHorse_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="934" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuXUexJAoBP2KtaVXuFFnrErG7h12hhyphenhyphenSyLP3v7r_2i7QdNDr5uF7cJtsrghWG560PkjwVtocsl9L43iRS-JNzyWiNEK8cb9IwUgmtkXqJ-0TlvviIM7GD3Wf58Bt8WXPcdB6qotcHGA/s640/OfficeHorse_small.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
I made the star garland using gold glitter, card stock, my cricut and a sewing machine. I've got these stars all over the house this year because they were so easy to make. See what I mean, I've even strung them on our family photo wall.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeJaOGnWGT2GvVDkDHz599CDVB0xtFjTcLa0C9er6wBnoEEa0Yt35aZ_vqnncRT6zr_m8mGWZdhG52kOR_ESfkyCv92hCd1R7DJ_lf-6ye4a6XIn2sPRNZXMTResvPaZ33s-xbPVrwMg/s1600/FamilyPhoto_ColorAdjust_small.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1400" data-original-width="913" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeJaOGnWGT2GvVDkDHz599CDVB0xtFjTcLa0C9er6wBnoEEa0Yt35aZ_vqnncRT6zr_m8mGWZdhG52kOR_ESfkyCv92hCd1R7DJ_lf-6ye4a6XIn2sPRNZXMTResvPaZ33s-xbPVrwMg/s640/FamilyPhoto_ColorAdjust_small.png" width="416" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made miniature song books for my tree in the office. I used
metallic gold thread to stitch the pages together. I want to make more
of these as well. I really LOVE how they turned out!<br />
<br />
Tip: When using metallic thread you need to buy metallic needles. Ask an associate at your local fabric store. They can point you in the right direction.<br />
<br />

<br />
The pom-pom, jingle bell garland in my office is also handmade and I'm using it to display Christmas cards that we receive.<br />
<br />

That means that the remainder of our summer can move a bit slower. Translation: I had some time to photograph my front porch today. Yay!<br />
<br />

This year I went with hanging ferns rather than cascading Petunias. The trees in front of our house have gotten larger and provide more shade so the Petunias weren't flowering as nicely as they had in previous years. The rockers are a purchase from Lowes. Now I have a pair on each side of the porch. There used to be a bright green bistro set but one of the chairs was broken and became unusable. The great little galvanized side tables came from DecorSteals.com. I bought a pair and use one on each side between the rockers.<br />

I was able to capture an evening photo a couple nights ago. I love the warmth that the lanterns add.<br />
<br />
The black and white pillows are something that I made and the blue-green ones are from Target. I also found the lanterns and the basket at Target recently. Both were on clearance. <br />

The basket on my front door was a find from JoAnn's in the spring. I purchased it to use just as shown but only recently filled it with flowers. I wanted to wait until all my vacations were complete so I could care for the new plantings properly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDYcgXJS81AMjpTvRLA4KiAdRafoulMg8u8s7QRrgiErFc_vpUWrpfiej5_D1LPT0mOi76cEEJcvmS90hgMRNLHLLQMlHf0LTq-2Pd8_pAMj4pQyxl9ATI52kXCKF1nAtbNERCljgvwQ/s1600/FrontPorch2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1064" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDYcgXJS81AMjpTvRLA4KiAdRafoulMg8u8s7QRrgiErFc_vpUWrpfiej5_D1LPT0mOi76cEEJcvmS90hgMRNLHLLQMlHf0LTq-2Pd8_pAMj4pQyxl9ATI52kXCKF1nAtbNERCljgvwQ/s640/FrontPorch2.png" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
I also had to search for a plant that would still flower in the shade and also cascade a bit. Lowes didn't have anything that worked BUT a local nursery had these beautiful Catalina Pink Wishbone flowers. Two did the trick and filled up the basket. I'm still on the lookout for a galvanized letter "K" that I can attached to the handle.<br />
<br />

The above photo is a closer view of the pretty little Wishbone flowers. I also added a couple Variegated Vinca. I look forward to seeing those fill out more like the ones in my potted urns.<br />

<br />
In past years I've always planted sweet potato vine but decided to try something new this year and I am really happy with how the Variegated Vinca is doing and will probably plant them again next spring. In addition to the Vinca a staple of mine is White Bacopa. I add them to my urns and flower boxes. Here's a closer look at the White Bacopa. They are full of flowers right now but the flowers will fade and then in about a week they will be in full bloom again.<br />
<br />

<br />
Do you have a staple flower or vine that you buy every year for your porch? This is the first year in a LONG time that I don't have either Moonflowers or Purple Hyacinth Bean Vine climbing my porch columns. I simply didn't get the seeds germinated quick enough this spring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Next year I hope to be better prepared in the early planting months. I'm going to keep my flags flying for a while longer. I love how they look in the window boxes.<br />
<br />
I also thought I'd share a photo of my pride and joy in my side yard… Limelight Hydrangeas. I planted an additional one this year for a grand total of four! The fourth is still small but in a few years will be just as glorious! They never fail to impress each and every year!<br />
<br />

<br />
If I had a huge yard or a small farm, I would plant rows of Limelight and Nikko Blue Hydrangeas, Lilacs and Peonies of all colors.<br />

<br />
I am not an interior designer by trade, I am a graphic designer. But deciding on color, pattern, placement and how you want the eye to flow from one thing to the next is similar. Throughout the years I have discovered that my absolute favorite items to decorate with are those that have meaning to me, that are personal to me and I am also finding that I love to add elements from nature and living greenery or to say it more plainly, houseplants.<br />
<br />
For example, the artwork was painted by my Aunt Pearl and all of these beautiful paintings were wasting away in an attic. I just knew they had to be displayed and so I hauled a stack home with me to Virginia several summers ago after visiting my family in Michigan. I have some of the paintings displayed in my dining room as well. I love that so many of them have water as their main focus. My aunt owned a small cottage on Stanley Lake and I'm certain that was the source of much of her inspiration. That cottage was where we spent a lot of our summers as children and later my parents were left that property in my aunts Will and Testament.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilRlf8zFDXG7JqNptCnfzuO9di83m2aQXOvDBTfXn2NvBh7kCZXcU6ckg8wd6K3JRVeR4S7tyywg7Grd2QauIZkJtuMS1CXcieY-Yvag5yKNKZvGusZDGvdf3F1soIv16HEIBV7FYY0A/s1600/Fireplace1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilRlf8zFDXG7JqNptCnfzuO9di83m2aQXOvDBTfXn2NvBh7kCZXcU6ckg8wd6K3JRVeR4S7tyywg7Grd2QauIZkJtuMS1CXcieY-Yvag5yKNKZvGusZDGvdf3F1soIv16HEIBV7FYY0A/s640/Fireplace1.png" width="432" /></a></div>
<br />
The paintings bring back fond memories of that time period and make our house feel more like a home to me. I furthered on this theme of water and the Great Northwoods (U.P. of Michigan) by adding a piece of driftwood to the mantel. My husband found it while we were boating with my parents a couple summers ago. I was also given some barn board. My dad, who is an excavator, had to take down an old barn and saved me a few pieces. Per my request my husband sanded it for me and I went ahead and made my own stencil and painted "Stanley Lake" on it. It is so fitting amongst all the paintings. The original fireplace was an orangey/yellow oak color and it wasn't right for our space. I painted it "Fired Earth" by Valspar. It made a world of difference in this space.<br />
<br />

<br />
The lovely white birch trees are so prevalent where I
grew up and I love that there are white birch trees in the paintings as
well. Lucky me... birch just so happens to be trending in the world of decorating right now. I strung some driftwood and wooden bead garland using cotton string, and draped in on the fireplace, further carrying the Northwood's theme on this feature wall. I encourage you to decorate with pieces that are close to your heart. Artwork, paintings, antiques that have been passed down, natural elements from the region you grew up in, or items from your travels. Mix those elements with some new pieces and make your home a space that is restful, comfortable and reminds you of all that is good in your life.<br />
<br />
The painted number five is another stencil I made and is the number of members in our family and the tin K is the first letter in our last name. <br />
<br />

<br />
I made slipcovers for our sofas using painters drop cloth. I followed tutorials from the <a href="https://missmustardseed.com/how-to-sew-custom-piping-slipcover-series-part-1/" target="_blank">Miss Mustard Seed blog</a>. The tutorials are incredibly helpful and thorough. This was the first time I had made slipcovers and they are a BEAST to make. I made my own contrasting piping and that added to the level of difficulty. They sure made a wonderful difference in this space and it was well worth the effort BUT I want you to know you're in for some hard work if you choose to make them yourself. I poked myself with pins multiple times and my sewing machine had trouble working in certain areas where it was multiple layers thick. I plan to slipcover a chair in blue and white ticking and add it to the corner of the family room next to the birch branches so I guess sewing up slipcovers isn't the worst thing you could have to do. I think it will be much easier as it is a much smaller piece of furniture.<br />
<br />
I also traded some graphic design work, with a carpenter, in order to have the built-ins made in my office/studio space. They are by far on of the BEST additions to our home to date. I did all the painting myself and it was time consuming to prime and then add multiple coats of paint.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcn15JWkJ5JrVwKV5zxo0Exa1tHW2t8MGXS9idSMl_76XZ1Sg1H0yugxIl0GXhvyvM7ufq0rl000U-GC0prgWRKBM6l-VVQH060s5NJjWB1A-rLEohw9R_i7mhJ-sAmXjhuRRXWNlQQg/s1600/Family-Room-1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="454" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcn15JWkJ5JrVwKV5zxo0Exa1tHW2t8MGXS9idSMl_76XZ1Sg1H0yugxIl0GXhvyvM7ufq0rl000U-GC0prgWRKBM6l-VVQH060s5NJjWB1A-rLEohw9R_i7mhJ-sAmXjhuRRXWNlQQg/s640/Family-Room-1.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The round side table is made of rattan and was showing a lot of wear and tear so I went ahead and ordered some rope in bulk and wrapped the entire piece from top to bottom. I love the final product and it goes well with the water/Northwoods vibe we've got going on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSH65wuhKLHqFG0Cqv2yuVVmvjUsTD3DkNPZAfM3wD4Y_At557zEBXJH_VD9i5iHPFgT2ZmVWJmCmPAgNNv50d7607epMTB7Yccj3k6DyPd_KjE75az5BZlmr_vKbFOC6N96Z_aQfPfA/s1600/KitchenShelves.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSH65wuhKLHqFG0Cqv2yuVVmvjUsTD3DkNPZAfM3wD4Y_At557zEBXJH_VD9i5iHPFgT2ZmVWJmCmPAgNNv50d7607epMTB7Yccj3k6DyPd_KjE75az5BZlmr_vKbFOC6N96Z_aQfPfA/s640/KitchenShelves.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
We painted this small wall with chalkboard paint and hung open shelving. The little secretary was a piece of furniture that was in my parents barn. I'm guessing it was my Aunt Pearl's. I had the same carpenter that constructed my built-ins for my office replace a panel on the side that had a hole in it. I painted the entire piece turquoise, my favorite color, and I use it for storage. I spotted the ore, with hooks on it, at Michael's a couple years ago, it was on clearance and it fits the space perfectly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNGHpobK6Nv_ajIwmQLBitGQz6xOZ78Qi6UY8C1JOH29zsfeNPNehlESTd6Dw9HcXLNTot4icB_x61_k_kmrWvlEQ_bnU7nQ8UDZWLs1ENDPsi_1lCWJfbWGiwhY1gw-6FRfTZDWcpXA/s1600/GalleryWall2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNGHpobK6Nv_ajIwmQLBitGQz6xOZ78Qi6UY8C1JOH29zsfeNPNehlESTd6Dw9HcXLNTot4icB_x61_k_kmrWvlEQ_bnU7nQ8UDZWLs1ENDPsi_1lCWJfbWGiwhY1gw-6FRfTZDWcpXA/s640/GalleryWall2.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
I continue to add family photos to the hall entrance. I love seeing my kids pictures up on our walls. Anything in groups, sets or collections makes a lot more impact than if you were to use onesies and twosies. Always keep that in mind when filling your walls.<br />
<br />
The next project on deck is painting all of my interior doors. I chose Essex Gray. I think it will give builder grade doors a touch of elegance and it will only cost me the price of a can of paint.<br />
<br />
I've got a picture in my head of what I want my kitchen to transform into. I hope that can be done in a year or two. Not a complete gutting but the changes will make a big impact.<br />
<br />
Thank you for visiting. Happy Nesting!<br />

<br />
Today I was thinking about my beautiful grandmother as I re-potted a few houseplants after finding the most adorable little clay pots at Michaels. One of the memories I have of Grandma Janet is her telling me how she would talk to her plants when watering them. I do believe she was onto something as I had read a few years back about the molecules in water changing based on sound. If the sound was loud, sharp and deafening the molecules were sharp and jagged, if the sound was soft and melodic the water molecules took on shapes that were similar. The molecules changed shaped based on the sound that was being absorbed. So maybe if I speak soft and sweet to my little houseplants, the vibrations being absorbed will aid in their growth in a positive way.<br />

<br />
My sister just so happens to have a Jade plant that was given to her by our grandmother and it is flourishing and trailing. All the things you hope for when growing things. The Jade plant pictured here is still quite small but I'm hoping with a little fertilizer, and proper care I will see it grow exponentially.<br />

<br />
I don't remember the name of this indoor grass but I like the visual height it brings to the plant display.<br />

When I chose these plants I was looking for variation in leaves and in color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRPl5fBPe1PFQq3doFBPCwjJF5V24VHuxAqivBINbKOnw-nsxLxaOOd4WgbGcOsbujbNzGtkZHC7zICUXYay3ZxEyAAiGVrUacCnbK3eGYEP3O2pmppm6iSB-5iHLB1n3sykm6tZxbNg/s1600/3TierStand.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRPl5fBPe1PFQq3doFBPCwjJF5V24VHuxAqivBINbKOnw-nsxLxaOOd4WgbGcOsbujbNzGtkZHC7zICUXYay3ZxEyAAiGVrUacCnbK3eGYEP3O2pmppm6iSB-5iHLB1n3sykm6tZxbNg/s640/3TierStand.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
All three of the plants live in the top tier of this metal stand so it was important when I purchased the pots that they all be able to fit and let me tell you, they are the perfect size for the small house plants sold at my local home and garden store.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
You can see what I mean about the height that the grass brings to my little plant display in this photo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg15URAtNP8QWAeWNLFtJU5T5Yt5sdnjFnCosafUPo7Y-7qOUOjyQ_Gf6FH06nCF7-sZA9Q0abvPpmKFsaIrIMAsBDNmUaTcI6qVJbQUlCCkQxBKP3SwMYaz2yhc6yGspaOQPWIM1x_ww/s1600/OpenShelvesSpring.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg15URAtNP8QWAeWNLFtJU5T5Yt5sdnjFnCosafUPo7Y-7qOUOjyQ_Gf6FH06nCF7-sZA9Q0abvPpmKFsaIrIMAsBDNmUaTcI6qVJbQUlCCkQxBKP3SwMYaz2yhc6yGspaOQPWIM1x_ww/s640/OpenShelvesSpring.png" width="410" /></a></div>
<br />
I also have a couple ivy plants that take up residence on the chalkboard wall. They require watering every 7-10 days and are very easy keepers. Perfect for just about any spot in your house. I love how the white dishes and the greenery pop against the black paint.<br />
<br />
Then there's the moss bunny I picked up from Marshall's. I typically don't do a lot of decorating for Easter but the organic nature of this little rabbit fit my aesthetic so he hopped into my cart.<br />
<br />
I've got a small project underway that I hope to share soon that has to do with reclaimed wood.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading! I hope you come back. Each year I look for new ways to celebrate my children's birthdays. We have done it ALL from, "horse back riding, nerf wars, painting, Jumpology, swimming and more. This year for my youngest child's eighth birthday we decided to do an ice skating party. Neither of my youngest have ever ice skated so I tacked on a 30 minute lesson for the attending group.<br />
<br />
My oldest did a series of skating lessons when she was 4 or 5. I thought she was going to be a professional skater because she could spin in circles for what seemed like F-O-R-E-V-E-R and never get dizzy. Of course in my mind I saw the Olympics in her future. When on the ice her balance wasn't quite the same and dreams of the Olympics (at least on skates) faded away. LOL After venturing into all types of sport activities she settled into the equestrian world and I was perfectly fine with that. I grew up riding and loved being around horses. My eight year old wants to ride as well. We're just waiting a bit,
simply because of the expense of it. Especially while having one child
in college.<br />

In addition to the invitation featured above, I also added this cute shirt to her collection. Using my Cricut and some silver foil iron-on I was able to get this done in a very short amount of time. I wanted her to have something special to wear to school.<br />

I would normally make cupcakes for her and her classmates but the teacher requested non-food items because of a variety of food allergies in the class. I printed a couple sheets of these cute paper banners that I designed, and that mimic the invitations, and with some double-sided tape adhered them to the top of these colorful pencils found at Target dollar spot.<br />

My little ones are growing up so fast. I find my self asking, "where has the time gone"? Take every opportunity to celebrate your kids. Especially when they have everything they need. I'm always trying to think of tokens that family and friends will appreciate but also come from my heart and are made with love. I wanted to share a couple of gifts I made this past Christmas for loved ones.<br />
<br />
First up is this garden sign made for my mom. My parents have a beautiful garden and this past summer they had a garden shed built to hold all of their tools and pots. They used reclaimed barn wood for the shed. My mom mentioned to me that she would love to have a sign that said "GARDEN" to hang on it. I tucked that information in the back of my head and when Christmas rolled around I used a piece of that very same reclaimed barn wood and some tin letters I purchased at a local craft store and got to work OR I should said asked my hubby to get to work. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjliEp1S6J5ny6_vA7_ia2LM1kzlP4Bz1tgr-e30MD9XuHgN7k2CjZnzmvhD-McGz6d4NZVLibD66miQFeW64s-6Uh3CyJopN_6QJCp-lUeC9w4hvAFB1GaHqRx-sMEUCtiTZteJ3IT7A/s1600/GardenSign3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjliEp1S6J5ny6_vA7_ia2LM1kzlP4Bz1tgr-e30MD9XuHgN7k2CjZnzmvhD-McGz6d4NZVLibD66miQFeW64s-6Uh3CyJopN_6QJCp-lUeC9w4hvAFB1GaHqRx-sMEUCtiTZteJ3IT7A/s640/GardenSign3.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
He lightly sanded the board to remove anything that may give the receiver a sliver. Then he applied three coats of polyurethane and last but not least attached the letters with small silver screws.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I really love what the finished product looks like.<br />

I bought the pattern from The Velvet Acorn on Etsy and proceeded to make two for a couple of my nieces. There are so many great patterns on Etsy and this one was easy to follow. I had one question for the creator at the half-way point. I convo'd the question and got an answer almost immediately.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Farewell 2016! You were a year that came with mixed emotions. Excited to celebrate our oldest graduating but sad to see her move away to college. Excited to make a trip home to see my family with the kiddo's but sad that my husband was unable to make the trip due to a new job. <i>[However, we are grateful that he has a job.]</i> Nervous and fearful about a biopsy and other testing that I had to go through but so relieved to find out the results were benign and I just got the results yesterday. I am welcoming 2017 with open arms, setting goals for relationships, my business, my creative endeavors, blog and my health.</div>

We're working on getting Christmas packed away before the New Year and I think we will make it. We spend so much time getting it all up each year and then more time putting it away. My kids get so excited to see the warm glow of the lights and all the packages and bows <i>and so do I</i>. I never want to disappoint them and so I will continue to make every effort to make the holidays special for them. It's sad to see all the decor come down but I have to admit it clears my mind and allows me to look ahead.</div>

My Christmas decorating is very similar from year to year with a few additions. I picked up these cowbells and added them to the mantel garland. I absolutely love the color metal they are and would probably love them even more with leather, rather than rope. So I may add that element next year.</div>

I also added this metal bucket. It replaced the wooden crate I was previously using to hold all of my birch branches/logs. I also found this really great, red-plaid, ribbon. I wove it through the family room tree and used a few pieces in the bucket.</div>

I have another tree in my office. On this one I use a lot of gold, glitter, pine cones and clear bulbs that I filled with faux snow. This year I added the Merry Christmas to the tree. I saw something similar on the Kindred Vintage blog last Christmas and again this Christmas. I thought it was so pretty so when I ran across this banner already pre-cut and glittered at Michaels and 50% off I grabbed it.</div>

<br />
This is the last liner I'll be making in 2016. I crocheted flower garland that matched a few of the colors in the main fabric.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo9esB6zJkdjw2-a6f2zpsOy0bNvvwYHBkaj_xXdLs7Dc6_rBEXekyGvaLVcq0iTNdd_AACIrkn-DO_Dx14YpjqGIWGMDOUbauyZvWIpo7qUF7p-9O3qiJl8OKFGbysS_67C4FxhEa1w/s1600/BasketLiner-5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo9esB6zJkdjw2-a6f2zpsOy0bNvvwYHBkaj_xXdLs7Dc6_rBEXekyGvaLVcq0iTNdd_AACIrkn-DO_Dx14YpjqGIWGMDOUbauyZvWIpo7qUF7p-9O3qiJl8OKFGbysS_67C4FxhEa1w/s640/BasketLiner-5.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
This is such a pretty alternative to the original pendant flag garland.<br />

<br />
I believe that Electra has changed their basket style for 2017 and it's square. That said, I'll have to order a new basket and create another pattern. I will also be focusing on the children's basket liners this year. You can see the style a few posts back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm not sure which style is my favorite but the pendant flags is definitely the most popular.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I will also have some new fabrics to choose from in the coming year.<br />
<br />
I have some big goals for 2017. I'll be putting in the work to attain them. How about you? <br />
Welcome to my home. I shared photos of our front porch, during daylight hours, yesterday. I thought I'd share what it looks like at night, all lit up.<br />
<br />

I utilize much of the same elements but added a little bit of Christmas charm and a whole lot of white lights.<br />

I made plaid pillow covers for the blue outdoor pillows I used throughout the summer. This particular plaid worked wonderfully with the blankets I already had and the black and white ikat pillow covers I made about a year ago.<br />

<br />
Welcome to our home. Front porch decorating is one of my absolute favorite things. This year I added oversized pine cones to the garland that wraps the door. I used red and black flannel ribbon to attach them to the greenery. The two small trees on each side of the door are in small urns that I dropped right inside the larger urns that stay on my porch year round.<br />
<br />
The letter K is a large tin letter, flipped over and filled with wood slices. I love the rustic charm that this element adds. My dad sent me the mini logs and my hubby sliced them for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This was a very simple project that only required some gorilla glue and a small amount of time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPCHaFSrOH04SKbDzr98yQATEoHE_tBe95BFu5FF5IT3udrVBf9F2nuKB-7D6ac0B3_w7mOVHMX6amZhpb_LZBXKUBEmchZ4dHIRnSsKg2xII5oct-I4jes-Qm0OI6-rLi-rNOVBY36Q/s1600/ChristmasHouse-31.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPCHaFSrOH04SKbDzr98yQATEoHE_tBe95BFu5FF5IT3udrVBf9F2nuKB-7D6ac0B3_w7mOVHMX6amZhpb_LZBXKUBEmchZ4dHIRnSsKg2xII5oct-I4jes-Qm0OI6-rLi-rNOVBY36Q/s640/ChristmasHouse-31.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added an oversized pine cone and some fresh greenery to my little chalkboard. I was also able to find red, black and white plaid, fabric that I made some pillow covers with to add to the rockers. I love the layered look of the blanket and two pillows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The left side of our porch has the double rockers and a large stump that I use as a side table. I love how inviting this space turned out.<br />
<br />

<br />
This is our neighbor kitty. He's always visiting and the kids enjoy his company very much. He also matches this years color scheme so I thought I'd share.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The right side of our porch has a small bistro set. I used the same red,
black and white plaid fabric for a table cover. I've had the red and
white striped mugs for years now and the Rosemary plant is something I
planted in the spring. Rosemary is so hardy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Don't you just love how fragrant herbs are. My dream is to have a small farm one day, with a greenhouse.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4PeERdXyJhj4mL94xnnm9XnFu9Zq_1OIFDjX1QszAX83Pk292pJWB9HOfe0xuNkDDrhNkztm68czwgjy_9x2qNHYEKt_f2vToHFNe50ZeP_FI0z0akVCXErckyzY9ncv-MOfW5JbMcw/s1600/ChristmasHouse-26.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4PeERdXyJhj4mL94xnnm9XnFu9Zq_1OIFDjX1QszAX83Pk292pJWB9HOfe0xuNkDDrhNkztm68czwgjy_9x2qNHYEKt_f2vToHFNe50ZeP_FI0z0akVCXErckyzY9ncv-MOfW5JbMcw/s640/ChristmasHouse-26.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
Stepping back you start to see the full picture. We hung large tin letters that spell NOEL using a wreath for the "O". A few years ago I did a very large "Believe" sign that I hand cut from thick cardboard. Sadly, cardboard does not hold up in the elements and it couldn't be reused. I wanted to get the "Believe" sign cut from wood and painted gold but I couldn't find someone that was able to do a large enough sign. I brainstormed and came up with an alternative. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYlmIOd3hhytRrl7UheqSyBiJPnVaeTA4Wnh_baNll_zI8esJId2E5IiZDPELUDven5Qx6BixozXM1Kfy5omDY3C41NmV-KdC4PZfF6d9g0enuGtJUoMLjdcCvjy0tNNugrI2yo9VASw/s1600/ChristmasHouse-35.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYlmIOd3hhytRrl7UheqSyBiJPnVaeTA4Wnh_baNll_zI8esJId2E5IiZDPELUDven5Qx6BixozXM1Kfy5omDY3C41NmV-KdC4PZfF6d9g0enuGtJUoMLjdcCvjy0tNNugrI2yo9VASw/s640/ChristmasHouse-35.png" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
What do you think? It's hung a little crooked which can be fixed easily
but I don't want to ask my hubby to do another thing where decorating is
concerned.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KGAK2wprv54wcVOHsv2VFqrrIUBcE4T67qdHCC6L9wp-D16uAWPfbJltfhAVmIOKWsLDWw6qGiV2UobzWZWbCCxsWnIX3Fx8V2QgGqFlJ1QiSQJLKEaFa296ANeC3J9jrsIq_T-a6g/s1600/ChristmasHouse-22.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KGAK2wprv54wcVOHsv2VFqrrIUBcE4T67qdHCC6L9wp-D16uAWPfbJltfhAVmIOKWsLDWw6qGiV2UobzWZWbCCxsWnIX3Fx8V2QgGqFlJ1QiSQJLKEaFa296ANeC3J9jrsIq_T-a6g/s640/ChristmasHouse-22.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We cut down two very large trees that were behind our garage. They had gotten way to big and needed to come down so we decided to wait until Christmas. They flank the front porch and have the really big, white lights, wrapped around them.<br />

I didn't have a pattern for the Electra Children's Basket so I asked that she have the basket shipped to me. I created the pattern, made the liner and added an extra, surprise embellishment.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDWcJn7DTPvx4J-dGGkEzddwGy6IFg4JMPZIUGuZQglQj9QMgBYG4SCzUz56RVC0m3xML_E6rGms1Pui3Vl2083o1-TyGeqGSGUOdf7-5iqtMmshITcgk5vpf8wdymK8_LUoRSGffTgQ/s1600/KidsBasket-3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDWcJn7DTPvx4J-dGGkEzddwGy6IFg4JMPZIUGuZQglQj9QMgBYG4SCzUz56RVC0m3xML_E6rGms1Pui3Vl2083o1-TyGeqGSGUOdf7-5iqtMmshITcgk5vpf8wdymK8_LUoRSGffTgQ/s640/KidsBasket-3.png" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I am so excited about this addition to the small version of my original liner. I'm calling them "Expressive Flags". I had this idea a while back and intended to do something like this for my daughter's bike but never had the extra time. Then a customer requested a liner as a Christmas gift and I obliged.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvbI9Fp1R308lF8HfiP43P9Iyqp2l06nMx8kL7YWKUdYGehGGcpaj2PAxPe6BVbmw6QddN7KBJYlR3cNBGnvycrE3npA2oXaLlNPmPIGJXh4UxStQyf7fhAEyi7I9ATDd_uLHwjXfY-w/s1600/KidsBasket-5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvbI9Fp1R308lF8HfiP43P9Iyqp2l06nMx8kL7YWKUdYGehGGcpaj2PAxPe6BVbmw6QddN7KBJYlR3cNBGnvycrE3npA2oXaLlNPmPIGJXh4UxStQyf7fhAEyi7I9ATDd_uLHwjXfY-w/s640/KidsBasket-5.png" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
These "Expressive Flags" will come displayed on a small wooden dowel and will slide into the pocket on the back panel of the basket liner.<br />
<br />

<br />
I have several fabric options to choose from but plan to have ready made liners available and hope that that will become easier for people to decide, what they like best, when purchasing from my Etsy shop. At this time my children's liners will ONLY fit the Electra Children's Basket.<br />

I recently made this pillow cover, with gold glittered antlers, and a crocheted lace trim. I love any and all shades of turquoise and teal and it's an added bonus that the color coordinates with just about anything. New pillows are often one of the quickest ways to update your home decor on a budget.<br />
<br />
The garland is driftwood and wooden beads strung together with a cotton cord. I think I may make more for my Christmas tree this year. The orange, basket-weave-patterned, blanket was a silent auction score and the ottoman/coffee table I recently purchased is in denim.<br />
<br />
Denim is also another great neutral and my choices when ordering were a beige, a dark gray (which I almost ordered) and a dark orange. My husband thought I should do the dark gray but honestly it was almost black and I've got a dark fireplace and a black chalk board wall in the adjacent room. I love high contrast but didn't want that dark a piece of furniture in the middle of my family room. <i>This space has been rearranged for the sake of this photo. The ottoman/coffee table is normally right in the middle of my family room.</i><br />

I'm originally from the U.P. of Michigan. It was a beautiful place to grow up and still is an amazing place. When I lived there, there were so many white birch trees so when I saw this bundle in the craft store I had to buy it. When I visited a couple summers ago the power company was going through and cutting down all the trees under power lines. Because my dad knew that he cut a few for me to take home. I'll post some photos of those another time.<br />

Here's the chalkboard wall I wrote about a couple paragraphs back. We installed open shelving and it's perfect to house appetizer plates, wine glasses and serving dishes. Some people have a butlers pantry we have a serving station and it works. I love the dark contrast wall and the way everything pops against it.<br />

<b>Change of Subject:</b> I'm in the market for a new camera. I've been using my iPhone for all my picture taking because my camera lens is scratched and those scratches show up in all my photos. Any recommendations? I'd like one that has the ability to connect to wifi and take video. The camera I would love is the Canon Mark II but realize it is out of my price range.JENNY K.http://www.blogger.com/profile/05322556913080931681noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3313391460630293764.post-74306722069665015542016-10-20T13:23:00.000-07:002016-10-20T14:01:59.800-07:00Fall Decorating in Full Swing<br />

I've been busy with my front porch adding all the autumn layers with pumpkins, mums, straw bales and cornstalks. Mums are fairly inexpensive and add so much color and volume. If you want you can plant them in your yard afterwards and they'll bloom each year and add great vibrancy to your fall landscape.</div>

Many of these items I reuse each season but change them up a bit. Like this wreath I purchased from Pottery Barn years ago. The only thing I change up is the ribbon I use. I've also been using the same burlap owl sign for years. Hey, I put a lot of time into making that little sign and I'm getting great mileage out of it.</div>

Enjoy this fall season. We're getting ready for the trick-or-treaters on October 31st. We get between 750 and 1,250 each year, depending on the weather, and what night Halloween falls on. We love the parade of costume, adorned, children and we're stocking up on candy in anticipation.</div>

<br />
I wanted to pop in and share the newest bike basket liners that I made this summer. I closed my Etsy shop over the winter months and reopened early summer and got a surge of orders which kept me really busy through June, July, August and into September. I want to thank all of those that ordered. I've got several more to make and I am going to try and add some additional product to my shop in the coming months.<br />
<br />
If you want to keep up to date with the newest products and liners follow my Instagram account: blueskyconfections. If you would like to purchase a liner for your Electra Wicker Front Basket you can order at BlueSkyConfections on Etsy.<br />
<br />
I also introduced a new logo for my shop and products which you can see in the middle of all of those bright, beautiful, handmade basket liners.<br />
<br />
Another option that is available for your bike basket liner is to add hand-crocheted, flower garland.<br />

I am excited to say that I am also working on adding custom, pendant flags to the shop. These are ideal for decorating and celebrating birthdays, graduations, baby showers and so much more. You can also customize them with names or birth dates for your home decor. Your child's bedroom or babies nursery, anyone? <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I wanted to share with my readers the most recent liner to leave the nest. I really love this new fabric combination. The navy and pink are classic, bright and fun! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihuxGLHN7e3PG4gqV9ZIIMkfKYzuKvQxh3otHciAMyOvdjlMZfGfyEwkvEqTBC7BazG-KW-yUJmcQOe3U2BkrZURBR7UkTXSMk722qKZK2jixm8cFb_JSSqXNcbPX_u11rZbzhIkPNOA/s640/3-sides.jpg" width="564" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This particular basket is an Electra Quick Release with a handle. The customer had the basket shipped to me so I could sew up a liner that was guaranteed to fit. I made custom, coordinating, biased tape to trim the entire visible edge. You can see it best in the image that highlights the back of the liner and the also where the liner ties.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've put my Etsy Shop on vacation mode so I can catch up on all the orders. Once I finish them all up. I will reopen. I just don't want to get to far behind.</div>

I was reminded this week, by a neighbor at the bus stop, that it was Teacher Appreciation week. I got a bit stressed and felt rushed because the week was more than half over. I had to come up with something quickly. So I searched Pinterest and found some of the cutest ideas. Usually I do a gift card to the book store but I wanted to be a bit more creative this year. So this is what I decided upon:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjigShmKjP1eZ0qdGORyog456kIBN50yzG4rYSiaAihqOK6drH5ox4Qyuy2kvzH3ZSWAUec62hcGsjdA5FpgYTRouSy0Iwq7w_mMF5bawbG0t7TG4cRAcAwtB5XpztbUJ96rpNI1ywPjg/s1600/1succulent.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjigShmKjP1eZ0qdGORyog456kIBN50yzG4rYSiaAihqOK6drH5ox4Qyuy2kvzH3ZSWAUec62hcGsjdA5FpgYTRouSy0Iwq7w_mMF5bawbG0t7TG4cRAcAwtB5XpztbUJ96rpNI1ywPjg/s640/1succulent.jpg" width="476" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The mugs are from the Pioneer Woman line and I thought the colors suited the little succulents quite well. The polka dots give the gift a touch of whimsy. I agonized over which succulents to purchase. There are quite a few available and they are so on trend right now. If you do this project yourself, be sure to fill the base of the vessel with pebbles for proper drainage, add your succulent, fill in the surrounding areas with additional potting soil and make a tag or card.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijOENZzQt59bRiXYxvAU4H1mCebUqt5rs6yxr_VwglyiZev2EdKJ8sfIv8lXsikV3Dk3Q8eyRGU0QWSBY3xgVmpcc2NJ_fKZoQKIlTKRpeOwSoj3-56OcL9fDw8Hyy81vV47bG8fXnuw/s1600/2succulents-less-focus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="592" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijOENZzQt59bRiXYxvAU4H1mCebUqt5rs6yxr_VwglyiZev2EdKJ8sfIv8lXsikV3Dk3Q8eyRGU0QWSBY3xgVmpcc2NJ_fKZoQKIlTKRpeOwSoj3-56OcL9fDw8Hyy81vV47bG8fXnuw/s640/2succulents-less-focus.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then created the "thank you for helping me grow" graphic and used my handy dandy Cricut to cut the words out of dark green, card stock, hot glued it to a wooden skewer and I was finished. A beautiful gift that can be enjoyed for years to come.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The hardest part was choosing the succulents, the rest was easy peasy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by. I hope this inspires you to create.</div>

The Answer: You can make a hanging rock garden, using the simple art of macramé. The entire DIY tutorial is in the Make it Yourself magazine along with several other A-M-A-Z-I-N-G projects.<br />

Oui! Come paint with me!<br />
<br />
Hello! I thought I'd pop in and share a few photos and the party invitation from my wee one's 6th Birthday Party. I went with a mint green, pink and navy color scheme. Designed the invites with the Eiffel Tower made out of illustrated, paint pallets, paint brushes, ponies, the #6, cupcakes and birthday cakes. Paint strokes added additional graphic detail. The invites were finished off with a hand-cut, mint green, envelope and sealed with an 'Oh la la' sticker.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpf5zWgMOUyHgE8IIiTCrlQNloJ0HB3rr3EE3uBqLdofST-b9NqTw9_gUvaZ0-2H2PegHjgzyWr-zbBDi7XmOwnZq7FTZknZOiA6pFZOSIicXICSiARtxTZG03XTCwvUNHhlazlAbj0A/s1600/6thBDay_Invite.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpf5zWgMOUyHgE8IIiTCrlQNloJ0HB3rr3EE3uBqLdofST-b9NqTw9_gUvaZ0-2H2PegHjgzyWr-zbBDi7XmOwnZq7FTZknZOiA6pFZOSIicXICSiARtxTZG03XTCwvUNHhlazlAbj0A/s1600/6thBDay_Invite.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I had extra invites due to an error on my part. So I decided to cut the Eiffel Tower out and make 3 dimensional decorations for the tables at the party.<br />
<br />
Using the extra, mint green, paper strips I had left over after cutting
the envelopes out I made a pretty, paper chain. I also bought chunky yarn in the
party colors and made several strands of pom-pom garland.<br />

<br />
An art party is not complete without a little beret for the birthday girl to wear at the party. The best part is she actually wore it. I had wanted to make a beret for each child in attendance but ran short on time. I will share a tutorial for the beret in an upcoming post if you'd like to make one for your little artiste. They are quite simple to make.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
This party theme was such a nice change of pace. I had considered doing this at home but having to buy enough easels, canvases, brushes, paints etc.. it was far less expensive to go to an art studio. I bet if you do an online search there's a place right in your own community that does these types of parties.<br />

<br />
This is year two of <b>"A Night Under the Stars"</b>, a fundraiser for my daughter's Interscholastic Equestrian Association Team. Because this is a fundraiser everything is done with little to no budget at all so everything you see in the photos belongs to a team members family, a lot of it is my own personal stash, and in addition a lot of borrowed white lights and other items.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCQCrpBIzq8Xh5Sin-VZ6B4oB18hQYgh-gTavWOm2jrlBZGYnew82yo4RhBbqPaaTzwL3H_QDjLa8ygWVtNZgFQ-dc56vOKqT9MDrlI69_TTFsxdPRg_c3TY-Zm_Vtn_-zubZLKJ58Pw/s1600/WelcomeTable_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCQCrpBIzq8Xh5Sin-VZ6B4oB18hQYgh-gTavWOm2jrlBZGYnew82yo4RhBbqPaaTzwL3H_QDjLa8ygWVtNZgFQ-dc56vOKqT9MDrlI69_TTFsxdPRg_c3TY-Zm_Vtn_-zubZLKJ58Pw/s1600/WelcomeTable_3.jpg" height="502" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I use this chalkboard in my dining room. The wooden crates, mason jars and hydrangeas come from my kitchen. I made the burlap table covering years ago for a farmers market I participated in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcD5jj5ZsnVJxidfiPNaTuKT3Mf2zXuSNdDdZeXJlHzlD1_b2izeiolHDht0uFpXxUxeJ7zebs5WUxApPdRcqH7Nc12jSUO4wMeNOoUAql2NyoNQKFIcf7FOvxJyeh0CdNWEtdHEnTlA/s1600/Entrance.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcD5jj5ZsnVJxidfiPNaTuKT3Mf2zXuSNdDdZeXJlHzlD1_b2izeiolHDht0uFpXxUxeJ7zebs5WUxApPdRcqH7Nc12jSUO4wMeNOoUAql2NyoNQKFIcf7FOvxJyeh0CdNWEtdHEnTlA/s1600/Entrance.jpg" height="462" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The easel chalkboard in this shot belongs to a friend of mine. I brought the large metal buckets filled with dried hydrangeas. I use them in my dining room. It shouldn't have been leaning like that but it was a bit windy during the day. I also brought the cornstalks and mums from my front porch. The beauty of hosting a fundraiser at a farm is that we had access to lots and lots of hay bales and fence posts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJY68V58Bg7SpvhX7_grHvLVQrpp8kwC-Zf51noZz0Tmy3lmfoMSukRKlzpzenAdoGD9qsbHps1B6HLW7W2v62w5S6lZQ6G6_rud3ZDuw4QFCrSDztOcJEfklfjeEvIku9EQc53pqz2g/s1600/HaybaleSeating_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJY68V58Bg7SpvhX7_grHvLVQrpp8kwC-Zf51noZz0Tmy3lmfoMSukRKlzpzenAdoGD9qsbHps1B6HLW7W2v62w5S6lZQ6G6_rud3ZDuw4QFCrSDztOcJEfklfjeEvIku9EQc53pqz2g/s1600/HaybaleSeating_4.jpg" height="450" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It was really important to me that we create conversation areas so people could sit and visit. That was done by building hay bale sofas with coffee tables to ground each setting and then we hung a chandelier over each coffee table. We used old antique doors that the farm owners had in storage as the tops for our coffee tables. Months in advance I put out a plea to all my local FB friends asking for builder grade chandy's that were just sitting in garages and basements. I received four for free. Thank you neighbor friends!!! I spray painted all four with hammered gold spray paint which was donated by friends of ours. Thank you! Bill our barn manager wired all of them so we could plug them in and they really provided all the light we needed in our little cove.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaLefdeJ-pBrqd8EfIDOj7YzjwCAQBbm-VbaREpQiJA5MNC4lwljeoV8H7cxcJw8OPplA33nGFBEWdxYl7kH2DKbWCkU7Kgj8SnY9m2RlLfM6jHs6EvKl0FS_B7UOP8NtOmmx6uEzRoQ/s1600/Chandy_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaLefdeJ-pBrqd8EfIDOj7YzjwCAQBbm-VbaREpQiJA5MNC4lwljeoV8H7cxcJw8OPplA33nGFBEWdxYl7kH2DKbWCkU7Kgj8SnY9m2RlLfM6jHs6EvKl0FS_B7UOP8NtOmmx6uEzRoQ/s1600/Chandy_1.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A builder grade chandelier spray painted and suspended from a large tree by rope can be really beautiful and add special ambiance that white lights, on there own, just can't provide.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlzqwsGUPvMWc4IHOAbSGxZXVnqjjGDSqRDqskPbzw1oacSthJ4WhMXw67_oO6xpB2njy-xrYzB5oDBVV7L2zYhAPP5r2OekCzf2lytPlPbzAlS_co8L4gFAKqP9FbtoY3yFoEZ2LsVg/s1600/Lights_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlzqwsGUPvMWc4IHOAbSGxZXVnqjjGDSqRDqskPbzw1oacSthJ4WhMXw67_oO6xpB2njy-xrYzB5oDBVV7L2zYhAPP5r2OekCzf2lytPlPbzAlS_co8L4gFAKqP9FbtoY3yFoEZ2LsVg/s1600/Lights_3.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We had white icicle lights strung from fence post to fence post to guide our guests way from the welcome table to the gathering area.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9Yu5HsEPqjC2y1b7bdxHuYPimnpoFEHDwYvAXZmv7ypkF0hwp0MA3LbEYX4528A5BnVXXa4jqbnlDq6PZ9KiyFZlcFUr9G2ZlB9Fa3cUPIFW5OtTc10gb12AptH2ke2avMTaoyUOYsQ/s1600/lights_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9Yu5HsEPqjC2y1b7bdxHuYPimnpoFEHDwYvAXZmv7ypkF0hwp0MA3LbEYX4528A5BnVXXa4jqbnlDq6PZ9KiyFZlcFUr9G2ZlB9Fa3cUPIFW5OtTc10gb12AptH2ke2avMTaoyUOYsQ/s1600/lights_1.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
...and they worked wonderfully.<br />

<br />
My daughters trainer put together this amazing display of fruit, cheese and veggies using borrowed items from team members families. We also had a taco bar and baked potato bar.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Desserts were brought by the riders families as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ZiGy_Dy7uO55xLz7kJW64-x4JpJS2vkiIWUbh7qVlLy5782vhc-PegjdGqggBuMP9AV4Y_jwWzd4r_wV5twdEhrSTiP7C6rdP5A7ad5Uf5moV5P58HJxgMPqzTWQhcRFhB2NRuKG7g/s1600/Smores_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ZiGy_Dy7uO55xLz7kJW64-x4JpJS2vkiIWUbh7qVlLy5782vhc-PegjdGqggBuMP9AV4Y_jwWzd4r_wV5twdEhrSTiP7C6rdP5A7ad5Uf5moV5P58HJxgMPqzTWQhcRFhB2NRuKG7g/s1600/Smores_1.jpg" height="640" width="448" /></a></div>
<br />
I borrowed this s'more bar setup from a friend of mine. She also let us use all of her pumpkins that she had displayed at her home. Grab some s'more fixins' and meet us at the bonfire. The fire was provided by a father of one of the riders and it was in the riding ring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNwb6ZhiNjS4t-ahVbDet8XKUGOnUKCna7__F-CopwAIJO5fw7eACDQkXw3SqZ3oNuSjhAXIAFkH-P9LKqM0BN8ndvI1GIStsTaYvIfwr3xe_DSnIv_TTLuLM22rB08gf66AkjC2UWqA/s1600/SilentAuction_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNwb6ZhiNjS4t-ahVbDet8XKUGOnUKCna7__F-CopwAIJO5fw7eACDQkXw3SqZ3oNuSjhAXIAFkH-P9LKqM0BN8ndvI1GIStsTaYvIfwr3xe_DSnIv_TTLuLM22rB08gf66AkjC2UWqA/s1600/SilentAuction_1.jpg" height="640" width="458" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is yet another borrowed chalkboard to highlight a few of the silent auction items. We wrapped this one in rope lights.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjCgP22wv_6JvB904yvvr0_gvzKohiYTlQsJGZ45zDFvl1QQCFrnSpaMf8i2I2VUtrnfjP247hYUcixExYySzh40yeYjJ7ojXtepaeVehvX2PTxHgUcFVRdPp3h0fPdaBupKntz2dQQQ/s1600/SilentAuction_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjCgP22wv_6JvB904yvvr0_gvzKohiYTlQsJGZ45zDFvl1QQCFrnSpaMf8i2I2VUtrnfjP247hYUcixExYySzh40yeYjJ7ojXtepaeVehvX2PTxHgUcFVRdPp3h0fPdaBupKntz2dQQQ/s1600/SilentAuction_2.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We had so many wonderful items donated for the auction.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgycdzv2n3hUoFJswAv22NyWF2pdh6ydsiUrHn_0iD9gUQ7aR_TkSV76z7fjg9_rU-H-QJbra-ZUz0RC1bf92lURgbijYDcJK06fVrcKhjwD2JpQMhU6T7SEC-nueCB54C3t_u2KP1TPQ/s1600/SilentAuction_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgycdzv2n3hUoFJswAv22NyWF2pdh6ydsiUrHn_0iD9gUQ7aR_TkSV76z7fjg9_rU-H-QJbra-ZUz0RC1bf92lURgbijYDcJK06fVrcKhjwD2JpQMhU6T7SEC-nueCB54C3t_u2KP1TPQ/s1600/SilentAuction_4.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A friend of mine was willing to buy a bike basket to donate to the auction if I would make a liner for it. I did and it's featured in this photo. It's a different style and the pennants are longer then the typical pennants. I had to add homemade bias tape trim and little fabric covered buttons in order to work around the basket handle to keep the liner laying nicely against the basket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmVjNGzrjzrb1ui2sT25nOlfUCggcDu8QX_as03UV2-lLJ0reqTGyIiU6ienmqlDM0ecAUytvdk_kKhkel-AMy0__Q7auLdJKYShWUlGnpRHEH7p5hWNKdfvdztCCal3aDLCwNAWdMA/s1600/SilentAuction_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtmVjNGzrjzrb1ui2sT25nOlfUCggcDu8QX_as03UV2-lLJ0reqTGyIiU6ienmqlDM0ecAUytvdk_kKhkel-AMy0__Q7auLdJKYShWUlGnpRHEH7p5hWNKdfvdztCCal3aDLCwNAWdMA/s1600/SilentAuction_3.jpg" height="640" width="462" /></a></div>
<br />
Another shot of our silent auction tables.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0fqaWuUhVbfTwiwJG5vhtQPShqLv7QnxcDW3QYi6naKBKLtZ5XNootKoIMy6lMaEyWX8PqWGYt9JBk69Pq_7cRUinEdu5CEFVWeICh1jQGyQ2QuBXmMtakqeTw5fjnKkMEW5E8bGLKA/s1600/Chandy_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0fqaWuUhVbfTwiwJG5vhtQPShqLv7QnxcDW3QYi6naKBKLtZ5XNootKoIMy6lMaEyWX8PqWGYt9JBk69Pq_7cRUinEdu5CEFVWeICh1jQGyQ2QuBXmMtakqeTw5fjnKkMEW5E8bGLKA/s1600/Chandy_2.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Each year we do this fundraiser I learn something. We had all the trees wrapped in white lights and then the chandy's plugged into them. It caused a lot of the white light strands to blow a fuse. This is still a beautiful picture but I can see the strands that aren't lit up.<br />
<br />
I'll share a few more photos from the evening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7zrJ1C66QX_8sQA2-40Get-VGEIeQMTllvTjQRS_PH1qHAniILOoJ5g2nYe9tFOEuB_InveTkSCkeLblAAdToYET9w1qOnhBwYFW2Gfp5FeCEpxxYWbl4nVqXlAKhJh_HxkwhMyZU3A/s1600/HaybaleSeating_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7zrJ1C66QX_8sQA2-40Get-VGEIeQMTllvTjQRS_PH1qHAniILOoJ5g2nYe9tFOEuB_InveTkSCkeLblAAdToYET9w1qOnhBwYFW2Gfp5FeCEpxxYWbl4nVqXlAKhJh_HxkwhMyZU3A/s1600/HaybaleSeating_2.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A picnic basket brought by one of the parents fit the setting perfectly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjYPiWFuyTzMqUbmJjABasJiobuXLFF0J1xMCzYmRY9Z24Mx6w8f5tfWxn2UH3gmJEPeBOW7t0XKSvgAzNA8UQPT9dpRIkhR5LhJTKzBxn7LGd3hpZnIEuYNkscILE-R1CxeaoDwm2Rg/s1600/HaybaleSeating_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjYPiWFuyTzMqUbmJjABasJiobuXLFF0J1xMCzYmRY9Z24Mx6w8f5tfWxn2UH3gmJEPeBOW7t0XKSvgAzNA8UQPT9dpRIkhR5LhJTKzBxn7LGd3hpZnIEuYNkscILE-R1CxeaoDwm2Rg/s1600/HaybaleSeating_3.jpg" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The best part of this fundraiser is there were no out of pocket decorating expenses. We hired a local folk band for a small fee and that was so worth every penny. I'm sorry I don't have any photos of them.<br />

Last but not least, a cell phone photo of my daughter and myself before the event got started.<br />

A lot of team work went into hosting this event. I want to thank everyone that helped out, that donated and that bought tickets and supported the IEA Team! <br />

The pillow is an original by me and the other two ideas were inspired by images I found on pinterest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvLRDYV2LtSxNbwt8-u5MPaUIjcibPB8t1PBa18hoRbscxxYT2kI-bEUmECNs2wn7ydQwErYNRLTlyKnOFeivmJ_aeUX9kSnvs3LSPnsZ1nw3NUHayhCMO8U3vzhIr2EIYZQBKeGAMMg/s1600/GardenPillow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvLRDYV2LtSxNbwt8-u5MPaUIjcibPB8t1PBa18hoRbscxxYT2kI-bEUmECNs2wn7ydQwErYNRLTlyKnOFeivmJ_aeUX9kSnvs3LSPnsZ1nw3NUHayhCMO8U3vzhIr2EIYZQBKeGAMMg/s1600/GardenPillow.jpg" /></a></div>
Designed and hand-cut, hand-sewn, letters, handmade, wool-felt, tassels and an embroidery mark make up this home decor gift. The last time I did anything with embroidery was in Middle School Home Economics class. Remember when the boys took shop and the girls took home-ec? I spent so much time on that little embroidery project and was so proud of it only to get a "B" on the assignment.<br />
<br />
I'm sure many of you have seen this idea for kitchen herb, garden markers. You can find a few artists that sell these on Etsy and you can also find shops that sell these tic-tac-toe boards with hand-painted stones. I was on a fairly strict budget so I made my own.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-xbiyMvNs8X4MjQKVLNCou8QmP4ocv9CdbsOwpWoLruMU4eVf4d0k7ooMo4T30uimS0Bfcys7oiGZ6Lrn3h3EULIss1R-rJ2nYIXzhN87sB-E8SSpru0ePt76P6HjajG9kLE1DjdU8A/s1600/GardenTicTacToe_Markers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-xbiyMvNs8X4MjQKVLNCou8QmP4ocv9CdbsOwpWoLruMU4eVf4d0k7ooMo4T30uimS0Bfcys7oiGZ6Lrn3h3EULIss1R-rJ2nYIXzhN87sB-E8SSpru0ePt76P6HjajG9kLE1DjdU8A/s1600/GardenTicTacToe_Markers.jpg" /></a></div>
All three of these gifts were so much fun to make. I hope that my parents put them to good use.<br />

I took my camera along and snapped a few photos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9J6EF_OUV_SZlV25SZfKap0nKqk1ucq5a8ShqxGDigVlMhRWkmLUmyojzbVWpXhs8YMJFVDYPnqJmWbWQcA5R80PEdR_nEYAirIadencZrYb54eMPH6-OqE3TxFJmIrId3KVAXX-mNA/s1600/EasterSunday_9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9J6EF_OUV_SZlV25SZfKap0nKqk1ucq5a8ShqxGDigVlMhRWkmLUmyojzbVWpXhs8YMJFVDYPnqJmWbWQcA5R80PEdR_nEYAirIadencZrYb54eMPH6-OqE3TxFJmIrId3KVAXX-mNA/s1600/EasterSunday_9.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Mostly of the simple, yet beautiful things I often take for granted. In an effort to decompress I tried my best to let some of what troubles me on a daily basis go and enjoy the beauty around me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl65UU-eN7h4PGYx0bOteSM5ch-5dY4FcQnn-peYc2G3925AkiV5tb6DLjAEM5ZBdux1wtNykG-YGSCoAPYG0qUdJG0SKuiaTHonOWSJqmMkcylrnarwTLAaajytGN2kqmCCoBZbgAsg/s1600/EasterSunday_7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl65UU-eN7h4PGYx0bOteSM5ch-5dY4FcQnn-peYc2G3925AkiV5tb6DLjAEM5ZBdux1wtNykG-YGSCoAPYG0qUdJG0SKuiaTHonOWSJqmMkcylrnarwTLAaajytGN2kqmCCoBZbgAsg/s1600/EasterSunday_7.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There are so many blooms at this time of year and the bees are relishing every flower.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3MZtHosUpfgU4vb8At2xeWXsg_ChKpEjmhZYdAZS2tLK5X7Yo1hJgt3J_AiSZFfMzGPtMRP3G5sReHQPnVaxpxuJ4uflX1-x32_5eZPGmP8NbcCZlVKUDH4tIuy8zmPpXNYH09NNtiQ/s1600/EasterSunday_8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3MZtHosUpfgU4vb8At2xeWXsg_ChKpEjmhZYdAZS2tLK5X7Yo1hJgt3J_AiSZFfMzGPtMRP3G5sReHQPnVaxpxuJ4uflX1-x32_5eZPGmP8NbcCZlVKUDH4tIuy8zmPpXNYH09NNtiQ/s1600/EasterSunday_8.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I got right up close to the tree in the photo below and the bees were buzzing all around me. I decided I had best move quickly with my photo taking and leave them to their work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7sF7n4OGuhb6CG3BEIIyov0_rqLUS2OdS1M8__3bAnhKNHt_Bt2FZfmgJSgnUeF3bXwSd6ZN9yJd8627273S3K5yusy34Rk5sbjQznlkN5rc3VPSXM5ZgJD1cvY24kKqoEhyphenhyphenPT_al6g/s1600/EasterSunday_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7sF7n4OGuhb6CG3BEIIyov0_rqLUS2OdS1M8__3bAnhKNHt_Bt2FZfmgJSgnUeF3bXwSd6ZN9yJd8627273S3K5yusy34Rk5sbjQznlkN5rc3VPSXM5ZgJD1cvY24kKqoEhyphenhyphenPT_al6g/s1600/EasterSunday_3.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I really love how these pink, blossoms light up the pathway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZFOueTASOfsMgWkUprnkOZzdN-bBGJ0xQODXEMeuYV3bMNy0kV0nauKSLnf6p7eRcFHrOvuXC3zTprU9YyuueLSXbDnOPR42QOlKg2AaXZNHEt7YXtSQbDegmz-pdVezhSDbZHfLBew/s1600/EasterSunday_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZFOueTASOfsMgWkUprnkOZzdN-bBGJ0xQODXEMeuYV3bMNy0kV0nauKSLnf6p7eRcFHrOvuXC3zTprU9YyuueLSXbDnOPR42QOlKg2AaXZNHEt7YXtSQbDegmz-pdVezhSDbZHfLBew/s1600/EasterSunday_1.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
The kids ran ahead and that's when I captured this photo of my hubby with our Corgi, Lady Winifred.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifi28EfwJUcfBmtmkQQzm26DTeFcG8eH754ZNBrd_96PAwzIxjxh2cCyeXUBpSOlq3mZyorXd19aTsIO8m9CDe0B4xerNGKAvUXpcgei5rHL7HvfKsYNTqg60AFiT2Qk4ZU5DJx6YIsA/s1600/EasterSunday_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifi28EfwJUcfBmtmkQQzm26DTeFcG8eH754ZNBrd_96PAwzIxjxh2cCyeXUBpSOlq3mZyorXd19aTsIO8m9CDe0B4xerNGKAvUXpcgei5rHL7HvfKsYNTqg60AFiT2Qk4ZU5DJx6YIsA/s1600/EasterSunday_2.jpg" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course a walk in the neighborhood wouldn't be complete without a stop at the playground.<br />

The only balancing act they're doing is the one that is right in front of them at the time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I need a new camera. Mine does okay but the lens is scratched and if I am shooting directly into the sunlight all I see are little white dots all over my final photo. Because it's a point-and-shoot replacing the lens is not an option and would probably be just as expensive as replacing the camera.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Any suggestions on a reasonably priced, quality DSLR?</div>

My little guy turned seven! He asked for Star Wars cupcakes. Storm Trooper marshmallow heads using food writer markers and light sabers made from pretzels and red and blue candy melts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCv9TwlbHqhK205-PlGf0h3P99pq25sP7cfl00HuNy5lY-TgkbI-9-SI63OAT-S-47a_xw-ICYxLH_ByTy4UuLxeYrGKJxtPGxf-y4eQIElcGevNyEL89k5b2yz-dDofJsIKTBk-Pf3w/s1600/CubsCupcakes_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCv9TwlbHqhK205-PlGf0h3P99pq25sP7cfl00HuNy5lY-TgkbI-9-SI63OAT-S-47a_xw-ICYxLH_ByTy4UuLxeYrGKJxtPGxf-y4eQIElcGevNyEL89k5b2yz-dDofJsIKTBk-Pf3w/s1600/CubsCupcakes_5.jpg" /></a></div>
These are very doable for anyone but a little time consuming.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdlI7c1ChG5VAJwwMJZxXsqJiWHF2_qR6_1xjL8pwYXMcDgYvSBkznHNPlnCNGHmzpw5THqee6LhsSCMhqW6RN45xHoLUbpwY_dYb3XGiu7JnFvIfKmexCIDiSq-ZbEAQEP13lnkWlAg/s1600/CubsCupcakes_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdlI7c1ChG5VAJwwMJZxXsqJiWHF2_qR6_1xjL8pwYXMcDgYvSBkznHNPlnCNGHmzpw5THqee6LhsSCMhqW6RN45xHoLUbpwY_dYb3XGiu7JnFvIfKmexCIDiSq-ZbEAQEP13lnkWlAg/s1600/CubsCupcakes_1.jpg" /></a></div>
They started out very simple and elegant and I was very tempted to leave them as is. However, I knew if I went walking through the door of my sons classroom with pretty cupcakes he would not have been happy; in fact he may have been a tad embarrassed in front of his buddies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcFaYBMtvNlGXG3EqSSngM2gTt5TYzytWsaKASHhp1-W7JAEXtXfBp8vaayGb9gq0Bp4pLaVGiFsmoOYqH4Hmf60amhqCKClzMX-6Vr28S-IhPZKhCmZLI8AIUB9iUCdF63IRh8kU9-w/s1600/CubsCupcakes_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcFaYBMtvNlGXG3EqSSngM2gTt5TYzytWsaKASHhp1-W7JAEXtXfBp8vaayGb9gq0Bp4pLaVGiFsmoOYqH4Hmf60amhqCKClzMX-6Vr28S-IhPZKhCmZLI8AIUB9iUCdF63IRh8kU9-w/s1600/CubsCupcakes_4.jpg" /></a></div>
The cupcake itself was made with dark cocoa powder and the frosting was a simple cream cheese frosting using only 3 cups of powdered sugar. I'm not one for an overly sweet piece of cake.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtJD3zHW2IFo_OJhRz1QeElvWalgeBEgDjgHv9U-EalpU2CKZwGu1_ktd-2gdzldKH_GrpwiIOJI7B3e6jMxKg-t8bh-WIPDIgFw-dfnabaPlK6h25Q-igFlQ-JK_hpk5L2VbvxOtpA/s1600/CubsCupcakes_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtJD3zHW2IFo_OJhRz1QeElvWalgeBEgDjgHv9U-EalpU2CKZwGu1_ktd-2gdzldKH_GrpwiIOJI7B3e6jMxKg-t8bh-WIPDIgFw-dfnabaPlK6h25Q-igFlQ-JK_hpk5L2VbvxOtpA/s1600/CubsCupcakes_2.jpg" height="640" width="414" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They passed the test. All the kids knew they were Star Wars cupcakes and gobbled them up. I thought I might get a few complaints because they were dark chocolate but that didn't happen.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

We decided to move on the prospect of owning a horse of our own towards the end of last year. My daughter really loves riding for pleasure and riding competitively. I love horses and grew up riding so what is bringing joy to her has been bringing joy to me as well. We have leased horses in the past and may still end up leasing but hope to find a horse that we feel will be a great match.<br />
<br />
On my most recent travels we came across the Lucketts Store. I first found out about Lucketts through Miss Mustard Seeds blog. I've wanted to go for the longest time but have not had the chance. So you can imagine my surprise and excitement when we drove right by the shop. We had to turn around and go back so I could browse.<br />

So much to see and you'll never look at all of it in one visit.<br />

I'm seeing items I didn't see when I was there.<br />

<br />
I love that red suitcase and the moss covered bodice. I hadn't seen the red suitcase until I started going through my pictures.<br />
<br />

<br />
This staircase has so much character. I accidentally hit something on my camera that changed the setting and it highlighted the red only. I chose to keep the setting because I think it looks really neat.<br />

Lucketts had loads of great throw pillows.<br />

<br />
Here are a few more.<br />
<br />
There is also another little shop sandwiched right up next to Lucketts. I can't for the life of me remember the name but I snapped a photo of one of the rooms that I thought was pretty.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These great shops are loaded with inspiration and antique finds. Definitely worth a shopping trip. Especially if you're in search of unique one-of-a-kind home decor items.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Check out these fantastic lockers that they have outside just waiting for someone to buy them. Don't you think they'd be great as bedside tables for a boys room?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wish us luck on our continued search for the right horse for my daughter.</div>
